Randomly saw this link from a friend. This is bad ass! Whay about incorporating cross bars so we can mount a rtt? And then an option to slide out the solar panels to the side to get energy with something mounted to the top? I would be all over this. Great job!

I'm not sure how it could accommodate an RTT as the tent would block the water tanks from the sun--no solar heating kind of defeats the point of having water up there.

Ohhh are the water tanks directly under the solar panels? I thought they were on the sides. Gotcha now. But having a rtt with slide out panels or side mont tank would be cool. Keep up the good work!

Both actually--the sides and underneath the panel.

I can't wait to see what the R1S would look like! Wonder if there'd be a way to make a top channel/groove so you could slide the horizontal cross bars to the top. That way you could maybe load something ontop like a cargo box/RTT? I get the solar panel is for heating, but honestly there aren't alot of roof racks out there that can hold both a RTT and accessories, like a water tank or awning. At least this design would have the water tank as part of the roof rack?

At least this design would have the water tank as part of the roof rack? The water tanks are built in and use sunlight for heating--not the solar panel. The solar panel is for generating power. Yes you can slide the solar panel out no problem and just use the cross bars on the rack for cargo like you normally would.

oh! The renderings make it look like the roof rack itself would be fairly recessed. I REALLY can't wait to see an R1S version now!

Will this mount to Rivian Crossbars or directly to the crossbar mounts?

Will this mount to Rivian Crossbars or directly to the crossbar mounts? The goal is to be as streamlined as possible so directly to the mounts.

Very hopeful that this project comes to pass… and in a time frame with which I can live… because I’m going to need something, and I really want it to be this!
So, IF this project were to get green lighted, do you imagine being able to make a tight fit at the front for aerodynamic purposes? I mean REALLY tight. Both Prinsu and Prospeed have aerodynamic racks available (obviously not with water storage), and there are mixed reviews regarding wind noise. And not really too ‘mixed… basically “it howls like a banshee at highway speeds”, or (best case) “there is wind noise… but it was expected”. Seems like there is a real opportunity for a truly (appropriate) load capable low profile roof rack (speaking for R1T cab roof only) that uses the OEM connections; dodges the ‘shark fin’ antenna in an effective and creative way; and - in true ‘made for the vehicle’ custom fashion is built for tight (maybe user adjustable?) fit at the cab front - tight enough to alleviate a substantial amount of the wind noise and make use of a flexible ‘to the cab’ seal along the leading edge (without permanent damage to the roofline finish). Oh, and ALSO does all the other cool stuff you have in mind, of course 😀 What say you?
