Hi All!
I live in Portland. I've had the pleasure of getting out for a couple of local excursions in my R1T. Some mud, some snow, and luckily survived a steep descent down an ice covered backroad.
While I'm not likely going to be building out a dedicated self-contained overland truck, I am on my way towards the modifications I do plan.
The Wife and I are in our mid-40's and have recently decided that we're ready to move on from tent camping, so I'm dispensing from the idea of a rooftop tent. We're looking at single axle, high clearance trailers. I'd like to be able to boondock with a trailer so I don't have to pack-up or teardown in order to do some climbing/crawling.
I used to do a lot of motorcycle activities on and off road, but after getting struck by a careless driver at 50mph, my Wife and I are left with some permanent limitations in the more physically adventurous realm. Still do some mountain biking, snowboarding, hiking, camping, and scoot'n on an electric scooter but the longer backpacking trips and the two wheeled backroad discovery routes are behind us.
I thought I'd post a standing invitation to folks in the area that have similar interests and want to meet up to go play out in the wild, be it weekend or weeklong. Similarly, if you know of some group meets or trips, let me know!
Feel free to email me at grassmann@comcast.net
Happy trails! -Ryan from PDX

Hey Ryan! I'm Jake. Shout out from another PDX R1T owner. We've got a lot of similar interests. Would love to hear what you're doing to the truck. I'm at jcrevistonrn@gmail.com. Will try to hit you up in the near future. We've got a 1 and a 4 year old so getting out is both a priority and a challenge. Hope to bump into you at Rocky Point, Sandy or other local MTB spot when it freaking stops raining!

Good to see! I am Jeff: PDX R1S owner! I have been pining for a springtime activity with my R1S, taking my Recumbent Trike somewhere, or tent camping up on the mountain. I went along on the Timberline drive back in Oct 20022 when I still had my FJ. I'm at "dgephri@dgephridesign.com" and will be reaching out when the W[0===0=]tr prototype arrives to offer viewing, test fit, and feature/use to any locals that are interested. Schedule permitting, I'm interested in any gatherings or just lunch with a fellow Riviot.

Hi everyone, I’m Ali and I’m also in PDX. I have an R1T that I’ve taken through some pretty sketchy areas around Browns Camp with a friend and looking forward to more adventures.

Hello, all. I’m a fellow Portland Rivian owner. I have a R1S I like to take out around Hood for dispersed camping. I’m interested in building out a frunk kitchen given the lack of a gear tunnel. I just need to figure out how to power the induction stove.

I'm curious if the 12v inverter (and related architecture) are in the same location as the T? I need to dig through the Munro videos and refresh my memory on the inverter.

IIRC, the 120v inverter is under the front passenger seat... Also, I believe there's a nearly identical model that does 240v, and could be a direct replacement, but that causes issues with plugs... Still, it's not out of the realm of possibilities!

Here is the entire Munro tear down series of the R1T:

The OP was wondering about getting a 120V outlet to the frunk to run a cook top. The inverter drawing from the HV pack would scare the crap out of me from a "tinkering" perspective--440v is no joke.
So my first approach would likely be to track down the the 120V line that feeds the 2nd row 120v and install a junction branch line and route that to the frunk. Would want to look into the output side of the inverter to see if it feeds a common bus or if the two output lines--2nd row and rear--are home runs.
I don't think it would be too hard to figure out but routing the wire and passing it through the "firewall" would be a bit of labor as you would want to do a nice job routing it.
