I've had several members ask about making 6 plastic boxes that use all of the R1T's bed and fit under the tonneau cover as they couldn't find any available that were the exact size. I spent several hours looking domestically and also couldn't find any. I then searched China and had no luck. Then I found some manufactured in India. I've imported form India before and it is a PITA but doable. We would need to get a full container to make it worthwhile price wise which translates to about 100 six packs. Preliminary pricing looks like about $200 - $250 / six pack or $35 - $40 per box. Inline with typical Rubbermaid specialty tote prices on Amazon. There is about 1.5 inches available at the top for custom sewn seat cushions with magnetic attachment if there is any interest in having these double as camp chairs. I would design them to attach magnetically to the top and also the bottom of the lid for easy storage. Just click the cushion onto the bottom of the lid and place the lid back on the box. Seat cushions would be optional and only if there is enough interest. The boxes are weatherproof for rain also. I've gotten my hands on six of them to test fit. Anyone with an R1T and a camera that is interested please let me know. Please know I would be posting your pictures / video on the forums for everyone to see.

To save anyone asking. The seat cushions would be manufactured / sewn at a proper outdoor furniture factory and would use a fabric intended for outdoor use.
Not sure about color/s. The group (you guys) would need to decide. Maybe a camo or dark gray / charcoal? Nice moss green? Color coordinating with Rivian paint colors might be possible but that is maybe more time than I want to spend on this to be candid.

I'd be willing to help out with this. So you are 6' 6" AND you sew? Oh i definitely misread something somewhere. I do not sew. I thought this was just to test sizing in the truck. I could also go to a local upholstery place if you dont have others that are interested.

Interested in the concept… but not yet ready to commit. Need to see how camp kitchen turns out to determine how I need to configure the remainder of my camp supplies as it relates to the R1T bed space. Will continue to monitor this. Based on other products I’ve used, surprised strength of the containers will support their use as seats for typical adult (suppose cushions would help spread the loading). Pricing seems reasonable.

I was teasing you a tiny bit because (I think) you accidentally replied the my second post instead of the first =)

As a guy over 200lbs I am also skeptical. That being said, the sales lady I have been working with dragged some poor guy in from their warehouse and made him sit on a box several times while she recorded it on her phone. Clearly no HR department at the box factory =) No way of knowing what he weighed but he was built like a warehouse worker. Will test when we have the samples on this side of the pond.

Interesting idea, however I cant imagine a situation where I’d want the entire bed filled up with 6 containers. I would almost always either a) not need that much space or b) would need to load things that are larger than the container. I’d suggest looking at a 3 container option that filled up half the bed. I’d be interested in that. That way you’d take up half the bed with containers and the other half with larger items (e.g. I keep a fridge plugged in the bed most trips).

Thanks for the input =) Some reasons I think people are asking for a 6 box setup: Having three instead of 6 makes them too large/heavy/unwieldy for most people to move around. Storage in your garage can also be a bit more difficult. Also, just because you have 6 doesn't mean you have to take all 6 every time you head out. Some people may want to have different boxes set up for different activities. A hiking box, a sleeping bag box, fishing, boating, photography etc. That way you can just grab the box/es you need for whatever activity you have planned and hit the road. I'm older and I know a 4 foot plus wide box would be a bit much for me. Especially if my wife packed it.

Sorry, I actually meant buying boxes that fill up half the bed (3 at the current size you propose) vs 6 that fill up the entire bed. I like the idea of space saving boxes but would want the other half of the bed for larger items (tent, fridge, chairs, grill, etc.) that wouldn't make sense to put in a box.

I like the idea of having clear boxes that fit the bed perfectly and are easy to see into so you know what is in each box. Also, having stuff stored in them at home and just being able to grab a box and go is a great idea. I am with phatdaddy in that I want to see how the camp kitchen works regarding storing stuff before committing to buying these.
