Question for the 10 people who already have the original Seaflo 23 test kits. For the new cast aluminum housings I've tried to keep them as compact as possible for obvious reasons. One way to do that is to solder the power wires directly and forgo the bulky spade connectors. This also insures a solid arc free connection which improves longevity. Several of you have asked if you can keep your existing Seaflo 23 pump and just swap it into the new housing. So the question is: How many of you are comfortable with basic soldering? Jeff has agreed to making a how to video guide. OTOH is it worth it to save $30? I have been soldering for 40 years but personally I would just get the new cast aluminum pump and store the original as a backup. Save that 15-20 minutes for a nap =) I would appreciate some feedback from you guys =) I think that includes me? I have soldering equipment but I don't consider myself very good at it. OTOH that opinion is based on attempts to solder tiny electronics back together. Soldering some basic wires together should be pretty straightforward, and I would be ok with that. Yeah this is soldering large basic stuff. Tried to think of an analogy and drawing a blank. Maybe tying a rope vs threading a needle?

That is the better option IMO as well. I have every tool under the sun including a soldering station and I would rather just get the new pump preinstalled. Not worth it to dig everything out, dismantle the pump, fiddle fart around with putting it back together etc. Then you have the first pump as a backup.

Hey Gene, I'm embarrassed to say I haven't had my truck for some time and finally getting around to unboxing/installing the wooter tank.
I'm actually not sure if I got the 12v battery in the package shipped to me, and definitely would need that since I don't have a 12v frunk outlet. How can we clarify if that was in my order?
Also, this new development of the Seaflo pump sounds great. Has that email gone out yet? I don't think I've received it.
Thanks for the updates! Glad I jumped on the bandwagon when you kicked all this off. It's finally getting warmer and I'll be getting a lot of use with the campouts coming up.

Has the email for the pump gone out yet? Haven’t seen anything come through No. Still waiting on a few of the parts quotes to come back. Soon. Hey Gene! I’m just checking back here on the external pumps after a long winter hiatus of not thinking about camping. Looks like I haven’t missed much, and wanted to reconfirm my interest in swapping to the external pump. I’ll try to also find an email from Marsha to reply to. Thanks for putting this solution together.

I just received the email from Marsha regarding the pump upgrade. As one of the original Seaflo 23 owners, will there be a separate opportunity for me to purchase just the new housing? Based on the previous replies I would imagine so, but I was a little confused when I received the email to purchase the entire kit.

Completed the purchase for the upgraded pump. Probably should have gone Seaflo to start, but glad it was an option to upgrade. Thanks!

If you're sure you want to mess with it Marsha can make up a Square link for you less $30 for the pump.

Completed the purchase for the upgraded pump. Probably should have gone Seaflo to start, but glad it was an option to upgrade. Thanks! Yeah. I don't know if you frequent any of the Rivian forums but there is a fairly vocal segment that gets pretty upset about how loud the air compressor in the truck is and I'm fairly noise sensitive myself. The Seaflo sales rep also sent me a video of the pump running and it sounded like a chainsaw. To be candid I kind of chickened out a bit and went with the "safer" choice. I eventually did get a sample of the Seaflo and it was loud but not nearly as bad as the video made it out to be. That's when we decided to do a small 10 unit test run to get feedback from users. I think because it only runs when you are spraying and it has a deeper register it isn't as loud in practice--the difference between sound and noise. On the plus side, hang on to the original pump as it will come in handy if you ever have a failure. You KNOW it would happen right after you've filled the tank and there's a hundred pounds of water in it.

The Pump upgrade email went out today. I'm re-posting it below in case any of you missed it: This email is intended for current owners of the first run W[=0===0=]TR 12 GAL Frunk Tank. The new SeaFlo 23 On Demand pump upgrade is now available for pre-purchase.Features include: -- A substantial increase in spray pressure. Even with hose lengths of 20 feet or more.-- A substantial decrease in energy consumption—more than a 50% reduction.-- A noticeable decrease in water usage. The flow rate—how many liters per minute—is about the same as the stock pump but the substantial increase in pressure makes any rinsing task—dirty pans, muddy boots, etc. go much faster, resulting in less water being used.-- On Demand operation. The pump only runs when you press the sprayer. -- Screw on anti-kink pickup hose inside the tank to eliminate kinking and eliminate any potential issues with hose clamps. -- Much cleaner looking single wire power cable. -- A raised base flange to make it easier for those wanting to use a frunk mat. -- Easy drop in replacement—four screws and you're done. 100% of our test group (who were selected at random and paid full price for their new pump) preferred the SeaFlo over their stock pump hands down and their feedback was overwhelmingly positive. The SeaFlo pump's performance is so much better that it will be replacing the stock pump on all future W[=0===0=]TR production runs. This is the only production run we can guarantee in service of legacy W[=0===0=]TR owners so if you want one, please use the pre-purchase link provided below. Once we reach 100 orders, the run begins with an expected production time of 2 – 3 weeks and a shipping time of 4 weeks. For those of you with a frunk tank who are also signed up for our Camp Kitchen, I highly recommend you get the pump upgrade as the On Demand feature, increased water pressure, and increased hose length will be a huge benefit. The price is $150 which includes everything needed for the upgrade--the SeaFlo pump, the cast aluminum housing, anti-kink pickup hose, power cable, and all the hardware needed. Shipping to the lower 48 is also included. PRE-PURCHASE HEREFor more information on why we are upgrading the pump—including some images—you can visit the forum page HERE. If your shipping address has changed since you purchased your tank, please contact MARSHA. If you have any questions, please let me know, Marsha

I'm happy to fork out the full price, it just wasn't clear to me if there was a preferred path for the early adopters.
