Sorry if I missed it, but a couple questions boxgods: 1) Is there an updated delivery estimate? 2) Updated estimated cost? 3) The kitchen is deployed on the passenger side with the drawers unfolded correct? Seriously fantastic job with all this. I'm more excited now than ever! 1. I'm going as fast as I can. I hate doing the estimate thing because there are so many variables out of my direct control. That said I know you guys really need to know so you can plan. I just answered a post on the slide tray thread covering where we are in the process HERE. Sorry for the redirect but the trip back from Detroit was pretty bad. Houston was locked down for tornado / storm issues and the delays piled up. I'm beat. 2. My Original estimate was in the $1,500 to $1,800 range. I Still think I can hit that with the caveat that the extra machining needed for all the lightening / weight reduction may push past that. I will leave it up to the group which way they want to go--lighter but more cost or cheaper but heavier. I will explain it in greater detail when I have all the quotes in and can give you guys more precise numbers. 3. Technically it can deploy from either side but if you deploy from the drivers side you can't fold out the drawer module--so that would be for times you don't have the drawer module installed. I posted more details within the last 10 posts or so. If you are still not clear after looking back, I can comment more on it. I hope to have time tomorrow to start putting together a more detailed set of renders.

Thanks for the update… appreciate the details and ALL the effort. Yeah… ‘day jobs’… I remember those. Now I just sit waiting for my camp kitchen and bug the designer about when it will be done 😀 Seriously, we all wish there was more to do to help share some of the work from your effort, but alas… Someone in your general vicinity definitely needs to bring their R1T to visit - I would if I was a wee bit closer. Let us know what we can do, if anything… and don’t let effort here mess up that day job! Re: pricing, your most direct competition (Thunderbolt Adventure Supply) will be beginning to ship their Gen2 in June at about $2800, with their gear slide an additional $1400, and so they are beginning to slightly discount their Gen1. I am still all in for superior design and metal vs their wood, and my personal vote for your product is lighter (with the CNC cut outs) and adjust the price up as needed. Well, up to a point, so as soon as you have an estimate for that, let us all know. Thanks!

Hmm…just a heads up… time, and competition marches on, and good ideas spread fast. Found out the updated Thunderbolt Adventure Supply Camp Kitchen version due in June has switched from a primarily wood structured product, to an aluminum structure with wood counter and sink tops (apparently similar weight). Their gear tunnel slide has also been upgraded to slide out either side.

Their gear tunnel slide has also been upgraded to slide out either side. It was posted in their blog two days ago. Everyone can draw their own conclusion, I still prefer the one designed here. Though I welcome the competition

My Goal is to eventually (after the first run ships) bump the Slide Out Utility Tray up to $1100 - $1200 and sell the Camp kitchen in that $1500 - $1,800 range so the "set" is somewhere in the neighborhood of $2,800 to $3,000. Maybe offer a Kitchen only version--so no fold out drawer module--for $300 - $350 less for those that don't really need it.

More options are always good. As you mentioned previously, I can see use without the fold out making lots of sense in specific situations, although hard to imagine buying without the fold out… just in case. Very exciting.

I like that lamp. I wonder if a J hook that will accept any lantern might not be more practical? I say that because you can use any lamp, and if/when needed take it down and walk around with it. FWIW, I bought the Devos Lightranger and took it camping this weekend and it is great. Really shines solid light down on everything below. I got the color filters as well which helped. In terms of the pole, it’s a little different than I thought. Both the light module at the top and the tripod at bottom come off with a push button release, so it would fit in a standard size hole through the kitchen that could also hold an umbrella during the day.

boxgods , so when this is deployed on the passenger side, the drawers will flip towards the back of the truck correct? Does that mean the rear passenger door can still be opened while the kitchen is deployed?

Edit* here: rivian-aftermarket.proboards.com/post/1310/threadI'm pretty sure saw him confirm that earlier, but can't find the post yet. I'll edit if I come across it

I just posted an update on the Slide Out Utility Tray thread which is relevant to the Camp Kitchen as it fits in the tray. You can check it out HERE. The kitchen will be built fairly similarly so hopefully it gives you idea of the durability and quality I'm working towards. I am working on some renders of the Camp Kitchen so you guys can start voting on some of the final elements. Should be a big post in the next few days, time permitting. I also posted an update on the frunk tank pump upgrade which will also be relevant to some of you.

Now that the Camp Kitchen design is about 95% locked down--mostly color and material choices for the group to discuss and vote on--I spent the entire night on a big pile of renders. Sleep is over rated anyway =) Stay tuned for about 35 or so images as soon as I find the time to label / caption them. In the mean time, how do you guys feel about Rivian color matched end caps as a $150 "ish" option? I finally tracked down Rivian's paint numbers. This would be somewhat of a long shot dependent on a few factors. There would need to be 10 or so people on board for each color, and because it would be a bit of a PITA for me to wrangle, it would be a first run only founders addition type perk. Here is a simulated launch green to get an idea of how it would look. If your truck isn't LG, use your imagination =) Thoughts?

Would it be cheaper to just do a single color, like say Rivian yellow for everyone?

Initial thoughts are that it’s starting to get a little busy with the 3 colors mashed together in a slightly complex plane of shapes. I also might be biased because while I love my Limestone color, the paint specifically makes it look slightly different in different lighting, sometimes more gray, blue, or green. Without a larger field of it and the actual paint, I think it will be more a normal light gray on dark gray (which is a nice color) with yellow accents.
